Livin’ that lockdown life: Charlie’s story

Updated: Aug 23, 2022

Hey birds,

Charlie here! Well didn’t 2020 turned out to be a bit of a shit show didn’t it?!

As we roll into our 12th week of lockdown life as we know it - that’s 3 ACTUAL MONTHS, ¼ OF A YEAR 😱 I thought it was time for a little reflection....

Rewind to when life was ‘normal’, I was a self confessed technophobe, a secret hater of Instagram and I pretty much cringed at any online fitness stuff. In coming a global lockdown and the whole world is seemingly forced into online training overnight. It was a welcome kick up the bum for me to throw myself into something I had been avoiding! Don’t get me wrong, there have been many times I could have thrown my laptop out the window - technical issues being the absolute bane of my life. But here I am 3 months later feeling like a Zoom queen and posting stories on instagram like I’m Joe bloomin’ Wicks!

At first the struggle was real birds “Is the angle right? Can they hear me? The lighting is so crap! Indie won’t leave me alone! The music stopped playing, shall I carry on?” 🤯 AGHHHH!

And then… BREATHE 🥰

I figured everyone else is also struggling, everyone is having the same problems as me, I am not alone and I am not perfect. I also figured that anyone taking part in my online classes and workouts are here because they like my training, they want to support me and they probably don’t care about the odd minor technical issue.

Lockdown life has been a big eye opener for me, I’ve learnt to appreciate the small things and not fret over the small things either. I’ve learnt to reach out for help, to listen and learn from others. And most of all I feel grateful for my body and it’s ability to move. For the breath in my lungs and the blood in my veins.

I’d like to thank each and everyone of you legends for investing your time and energy into working out with me during this madness. For your patience during lost internet connections and frozen screens. For supporting me wholeheartedly with your kind words and warm messages of thanks. And Shani for being a no.1 supportive babe and for being an absolute legend in general ALWAYS! 👊😻

You have ALL been my inspiration, you’ve kept me going week in week out and for that… YOU ARE MY LOCKDOWN HEROS!

As a little bit of normality starts creeping into our lives, I will look back on this time with a mixed bag of emotions. I’m sure we can all agree it’s been a rollercoaster!

Until we meet again birds - and boy when we do is it gonna be a VIBE! I thank you for all being part of my lockdown journey.

See you on screen birds!

Charlie
