I first was drawn to Cornwall around 10 years ago, when I stumbled across an incredible venue. A venue surrounded by rugged beaches, dense bush and Scandi tree houses.
I first fell in love with Cornwall on a road trip more than 10 years ago with my husband and friend, a Fitbird had kindly shared her campervan with me, we explored the most beautiful beaches and endless pristine coastlines. Last year another generous Fitbird shared her Cornish family home with me. A week of full immersion in nature, the simple life with my family. I instantly wanted to move there.
And last month, I was invited to Cornwall on a running retreat (yes me, the self-confessed hater of running). Movement and connection with inspiring people. Fresh seafood, clean air and produce from the land.
It's how I grew up in NZ and so my body becomes alive instantly.
Firstly, how generous are the birds in our community? A secondly, the signs are real birds, it's time we retreat to Cornwall.
The Vibe.
This is the call birds, the call to retreat to this magical Cornish escape, to be apart of our first Cornwall Retreat.
Kudhva is the hidden gem. A place with Scandi huts hidden in the bush, a forest yoga platform, sauna, fire pits, waterfall and beaches.
We are here to go off-grid, to reconnect with nature, ourselves and each other. We go slow, peel back back the layers and create space to be still, move, play, reflect and dream.
A Fitbirds retreat offers an extensive schedule, including powerful Opening and Closing Ceremonies. These are opportunities to be fully present, to share, to be inspired and be moved.

The Venue.
Kudhva is set within a long abandoned Cornish slate quarry, a remnant of Cornwall’s industrial past, and one which still holds the echoes of this once hard-worked land.
Kudhva is a place where you can reset, refocus and revive. Clean air, cold water swimming, boundless stars and fresh food cooked over flames will help you reconnect with nature and remind you of what is most important. It’s a place where, if you so choose, you can do your own thing, in your own time.
Kudhva is proudly off-grid. We harness solar energy to feed the very few electrical items we have on site (lights, showers, fridges and a couple of plug sockets). We have two resident goats who happily contribute to our land management, organically regulating the abundant shrubs and grasses when they’re moved from area to area.
Kudhva invest in products that are designed to support our land, free from harsh chemicals, and made by companies with environmental policies that we respect.
Kudhva are proud to invest in a local and circular economy, working with Cornish people and products, and supporting small businesses wherever we can.
Kudhva strives to make their legacy one of sustainability, seeking not to add to an already troubled planet, but instead creating a space where you’ll find the room to appreciate nature, understand it better, and recognise our lasting impact beyond its boundaries.
The Food.
We have teamed up with local Cornish chef Sarah Coates for our retreat catering.
Sarah will be providing shared‐plate, buffet‐style brunches and dinners built around locally sourced Cornish fish & seafood and generous plant‐based dishes.
There is nothing better than fresh food from the land.
Not to mention simply not cooking, cleaning and enjoying slow meals around the table for long conversations with old friends and new.
